Dungeon Master for Dungeons and Dragons ( Adult or Youth Learn to Play) - Multiple Locations
We are a learning environment for the community and our volunteers, and our program runs with 2-3 DM’s. This group helps facilitate a Learn to Play program for groups of 6 players. Usually, one person takes the lead and the others are there to support, play NPCs, or step in as needed. LPL has purchased campaigns and has all the equipment DMs and Players need. We also do an orientation/training to the game and LPL expectations before starting. At Central Library, our program is focused on adults learning to play, while our other branches at this point focus on teens.
Time Commitment: 3 months (10-week campaign), weekly shifts are 2 hrs in length plus additional planning time as needed. The next session will start in February, with training in January.
Age requirement: 14+
Meeting dates/ times: This role has a flexible schedule based on program needs. primarily on Saturdays, but occasionally on weekdays or weekday evenings
Locations: This next session starts in February. We expect to have openings at the following branches: Beacock Library, Bostwick Library, Central Library, Cherryhill Library, Masonville Library and Sherwood Library.
Tasks & responsibilities:
- Offer assistance or lead players through various gaming platforms and programs offered at the library
- Create a safe and positive environment for players to learn and play with confidence
- Explain game objectives and goals to new players
- Provide guidance for strategies, by communicating with players in the game while playing with others
- Share ideas and goals of games in a way that moves players forward in a fun and collegial environment
- Encourage conversation between players, especially when team game platforms are part of the strategy

We ask that a volunteer commit to the full ten weeks, excluding emergencies
