We look forward to welcoming you to the team!
Our pantry is an affordable food shop, helping members to save money on food and household essentials each week.
As a pantry volunteer you will help us run our pantry sessions and create a welcoming environment. This could be through running the welcome desk to sign people in, helping people with their shop in the pantry, making hot drinks and chatting to people or restocking the pantry.
Our foodbank operates six days a week, providing emergency food support to people in crisis.
As a foodbank volunteer you will be part of a team that packs food parcels ready to be picked up for delivery, puts away food deliveries and collections, organises stock and keeps things clean and tidy and running smoothly.
Our clothes scheme enables people to save money and help the planet by reusing instead of buying new.
As a clothes team volunteer you will work as part of our team to make sure our clothes sessions run smoothly - welcoming customers and keeping a tally of numbers of customers and bags of clothes taken. You will sort new donations, restock crates of clothes and ensure that the clothes rooms are left tidy.
Our clothes scheme is open term time only, with occasional events in school holidays.
Our seniors' lunch club provides a space for older people to gather socially and to reduce isolation.
As a lunch club volunteer, you would help set up the hall ready for approx. 35 seniors, setting out tables and chairs and setting the tables. Once we open at 12, you will be taking food orders and serving food. Once all food is served you will help with the cleaning and clearing away including washing up.
Our Repair Cafe helps enables people to save money and help the environment by fixing items rather than throwing them away.
As a Repair Cafe Welcome Volunteer you will greet visitors, introduce them to the house rules and refreshments, and chat to them as they wait. As a Repair Cafe Volunteer Fixer you will be part of a team of electrical, general or seamstress fixers trying to repair items brought by the public - or at least diagnose the problems - in order to see if broken things can avoid being thrown away.
As a Bereavement Support volunteer you would be either fulfilling a simple but vital role in welcoming guests, staffing the door and monitoring refreshments for visitors - or (after appropriate training/support) guiding sensitive shared conversations with vulnerable people - all to help people struggling with grief and loss.
We have various roles for drivers, including delivering food parcels and collecting donations. This can be at a regular time each week or ad hoc.
