Events Outreach - Expos & Festivals (Health Promotion)

Events Outreach Volunteers provide information, resources and interactive activities to a range of target groups identified within programs and services provided by WAAC.

Activities may include distributing safe sex packs, staffing community stalls & expos, assisting with interactive activities such as Sexual Health Jeopardy and attending organised events such as Pride, Fair Day & World AIDS Day

Sexual Health Jeopardy

All outreach has the purpose of increasing knowledge and understanding of holistic sexual health, decreasing stigma around HIV/ AIDS, STI’s and BBV’s and when appropriate offering education.

Volunteers who work in Events Outreach will:

  • Gain experience providing information & referrals in a group and one-on-one environment
  • Gain experience in appropriately distributing resources to target groups
  • Gain increased awareness of issues affecting specific target groups

Events Outreach volunteers attend a range of events to conduct outreach to several different target groups.  Activities include distributing safe sex packs, staffing community stalls and more structured outreach interventions.  Volunteers in this program can work across a number of WAAC programs including the KISS school leavers program and Safe Sex Angels venue outreach.
