Position Title: Education Programs Support

Position Category: Education & Interpretation (80 hours/year service requirement)

Purpose:

To support the Education Department in providing fun and memorable experiences to children and their families, particularly during education event days and other family-focused guest engagement programming like Wild Tykes and ZooTales. Activities may include greeting guests at the zoo entrance, assisting with crafts, story times, animal handling assistant, and nature play activities.

Duties:

  • Clock in/out for every shift
  • Report to designated supervisor at the beginning of the shift
  • Assist in collecting all needed materials for programming
  • Assist with set up and break down of location and materials
  • Engage zoo guests in programming in a positive and enthusiastic manner
  • Return all materials to designated place

Prerequisite Service: Entry Level (0+ Hours)

Qualifications:

  • Must complete general Zoo Crew Orientation Training and Interpretation 101 Training (Basics of Interpretation) before scheduling first shift
  • Must meet with Education Programs Manager prior to first shift
  • Complete on-the-job training of duties listed
  • Must complete 10 Education Programs Support shifts within a year
