Driver Volunteers
Provide transportation to and from the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, Boeing Field, and King Street Station for Seattle Cancer Care Alliance patients and their primary caregivers. Driver volunteers will use their personal vehicle for arrivals and departures. Must be at least 21 years old. Driver volunteers are expected to fill at least two trips per month.
Responsibilities
- Serve as an ambassador of the SCCA by welcoming new patients and their families at the airport and driving them to their residence in Seattle. Provide an orientation to the Lake Union area and, if the driver is comfortable and/or has extra time, offer to drive families to a nearby grocery store.
- Transport family members and friends who are primary caregivers to and from the airport. Drive patients to the airport when they have been discharged from the SCCA.
Qualifications
- Must have a current driver’s license and auto insurance.
- Must be a safe driver with no serious driving infractions within the past three years.
- Ability to interact with a variety of people. Respectful of diverse lifestyles, cultures, religions and values.
- Dependable and punctual.
- Ability to be flexible and respond to the changing needs of patients and family members.
- Ability to move luggage in and out of vehicles.
- Familiar with Lake Union, Capitol Hill and lower Queen Anne areas.
- Essential functions of this role include but are not limited to the ability to safely transport patients/caregivers in a vehicle, vision, and verbal communication.
