Nillumbeats FReeZA Committee


Nillumbik Youth are offering young, enthusiastic and innovative volunteers the opportunity to join Nillumbeats. Nillumbeats is the Nillumbik FReeZA committee, and we create, organise and deliver events for young people in the community!


As a member of Nillumbeats, you’ll help create, organise and deliver live music gigs, podcasts, dance parties, cultural events, workshops and recreational activities, including skate and BMX events. You’ll also gain real life experience from mentors within the industry. If you want to learn more about how to put on livestreamed events, sound engineering or anything else event related, we want you to be involved in Nillumbeats!


Committee member’s responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

•           creation, planning and management of events

•           audio visual and sound production

•          coordination and booking of performers and event vendors– bands, DJs, other artists, venues and vendors

•           marketing and promotions support

•           working with other members of the committee on tasks

•           on the day of events providing support


Key Requirements:

•           a love for live music, performing arts and cultural and recreational events

•           be aged between 15 to 24 years

•           live, work, study or play within Nillumbik Shire

•          be able to attend weekly meetings (in accordance with current COVID-19 restrictions) on Wednesdays 4.00-5.30pm and occasionally volunteer at events.

•          an interest and/or experience in live music gigs, event management / planning, or a willingness to learn

Support Provided:

•          volunteers will be supported throughout the entire program by the Nillumbik Youth Development Officer and other Youth Development staff

•          volunteers will need to complete Introduction to Child Safe Standards Training, this will be covered in volunteer induction 

•          volunteers will need to complete Introduction to Child Safe Standards Training, this will be covered in volunteer induction 

•          Working with Children’s Check may be required (at no cost to volunteer) if over 18 years of age

•          Relevant policies will be covered during volunteer induction using Council’s Volunteer Handbook, for details regarding Occupational Health and Safety, Equal Opportunity, Bullying & Harassment, Privacy & Confidentiality and Code of Conduct.
