Sources Community Resource Society

Sources Volunteer Wheels is a program designed to provide transportation for residents in the communities of White Rock and South Surrey to access their essential healthcare appointments more easily. Volunteer drivers of this program pick clients up at their homes and drive them to their healthcare appointments all throughout the Lower Mainland. Volunteer drivers will remain in the area of the appointment until its conclusion, and bring the clients back to their home. This program is a driving and companionship service and drivers do not provide medical assistance.  In respect of our client's needs, we are looking for a both a female and male volunteer.

To be successful in this position:

• You must possess excellent interpersonal, communication and listening skills.
• Be sensitive to client's needs, abilities and privacy at all times.
• Be an experienced driver with a Class 5 driver's licence, a safety inspected vehicle and a clean driver's abstract.
• Have a minimum Liability Insurance coverage of $3,000,000.00 with Sources reimbursing the difference from $1,000,000.00 coverage.

Time Commitment:

Shifts for the Volunteer Wheels Program are a minimum of 2 drives per week, hours and days vary depending on drive requests. Sources does require a minimum 6 month commitment from volunteers of this program.

Drivers are able to interact directly with clients and provide positive support and companionship throughout the course of the drive. This is a critically valuable service for our clients as many face isolation and are without other assistance or means of accessing their necessary appointments. This position comes with the ability to make daily impacts in the lives of vulnerable members of our community who need it most.
