Health and Wellbeing - Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden - Tuesday (afternoons) S2 2022
Volunteers are required at Beckenham Primary School to help the children in cooking classes. The experience is very rewarding in witnessing the journey from garden to plate and the revelations the children experience in regard to basic nutrition.
Volunteers will help the teacher with general support in the classroom, maintenance in the garden and will assist the children through theory based lessons. Helping with cleaning up after the session is also important.
When: Tuesdays 1.30 pm to 3.10 pm
Start date: Tuesday, 2 August 2022
End date: Tuesday, 18 October 2022
Dates not running: 27 September, 4 October (School holidays and any public holidays that coincide)
Transport: Not provided by CV! - Volunteers must make their own way there. School is close to Beckenham train station
- Ability to communicate in English
- Comfortable working with primary-aged children
- Good organisational skills
- Interest in healthy eating and cooking
Induction: You will be required to arrive 20 minutes early to the first session on Tuesday 2 August for a compulsory induction.
Due to the commitment we have made to our community partners, it is of vital importance that you are able to commit to the volunteering sessions between the start and end date of the program. If you are likely to miss more than two sessions in the semester, we ask that you do not sign up to the volunteering activity. Please note that in some instances, activities might have to be cancelled or the times changed due to unforeseen circumstances. We will try our best to avoid this happening but please be aware that the hours for these volunteering activities cannot be guaranteed until after the completion of the activity.
