Sports programs - Ice-based (ie. skate, hockey)
Our weekly sports and recreation programs provide adapted athletic instruction to children with autism. Our arena-based programs include both skate and hockey programs. Skate programs provide participants the opportunity to develop basic skate skills in a safe and supportive environment. This introductory program focuses on balance, control and agility. Hockey programs provide participants the opportunity to develop introductory hockey skills (stick handling, passing and shooting) in a safe and supportive environment.
In our sports programs, volunteers assist in a range of tasks including modeling exercises, helping to set up or pack up materials for activities or assisting with visual or other supports.
Please note; volunteers must be comfortable on the ice, including supporting another person on the ice, to participate in these programs.
