One Tree Per Child
Bristol City Council’s One Tree Per Child (OTPC) project began in 2015 with the aim of planting one tree for every primary school pupil in the city at the time, equivalent to 36,000 trees. This target that was exceeded in 2016 when over 39,500 trees had been planted in green spaces across the city. The project has continued to plant 6,000 trees per year, one for every pupil starting school each year, with over 60,000 trees planted to date.
We're looking for volunteers to help care for and create new woodlands, hedgerows and orchards across the city. We plant all our trees during the winter season from November to March, for the rest of the year we work to care for the trees by mulching, weeding, watering and pruning. We always need lots of help so have a look at the upcoming volunteer days and sign up.
