Repair Cafe Repairer - Toolbox

If you can fix things - whether that's electronics, clothing, furniture, bikes, jewellery, or anything in between - the Toolbox Repair Cafe wants to hear from you. Once a month (or every second month if that suits your schedule better), you'll sit down with Canberrans and their broken things and do what you do best, with the added bonus (when the moment's right) of teaching people how to make repairs themselves.
It's genuinely rewarding work. People arrive anxious about a broken lamp or a favourite jacket and leave relieved and grateful - and you made that happen.
What you'll do:
Diagnose the appropriate fix and repair items brought in by visitors, give advice, and share your skills where appropriate. Repairers of all kinds are welcome - the more diverse the skills around the table, the better.
Time commitment:
Toolbox Repair Cafes operate just one afternoon a month - the last Saturday, 2pm - 5pm. We'd love your help at every one, but even every second month would be fantastic!
What you'll need: Relevant skills and experience in your area of repair. A current electrical licence is required for electrical repairs. All volunteers need a current Working With Vulnerable People Card (they're available from Access Canberra and FREE if you're a volunteer).
