Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Peninsula Family Service (PFS). We are excited to welcome volunteers at our Early Learning Centers, for more information please email volunteers@pfso.org.
Opportunities include:
Early Learning:
Read and play with the children
Support our teachers in creating a project to do with the children
Support our STEM Coordinators in creating a STEM from the Start project
Create a holiday themed project for a classroom
Clean, sort, and organize toys and materials
Sponsor and hold a celebration for graduation with backpacks for graduates (May-July)
Adopt a classroom for holiday gifts and celebration
Older Adult Services:
Support our Fair Oaks Adult Activity Center staff with hosting a party for our older adults at Fair Oaks in Redwood City with food, music, and games
Teach a special skill/exercise/project workshop at Fair Oaks Activity Center (experience required)
Peer Counseling:
Specially-trained volunteer counselors provide weekly visits to adults age 55+ to help manage transitions and life changes such as health concerns, mobility issues, caregiver needs, and grief.
Mature Worker Program:
Via Zoom: Help participants prepare for job interviews and panel discussions, including learning about new opportunities, evaluating a career change, navigating the interview process, presenting the right image, relating to younger coworkers, overcoming ageism, etc.
Present and share knowledge with participants on various subjects, including financial matters, long-term care, and evaluating a career change
