Van Driver (or use own vehicle)

Time Commitment:

  • Clinic Transport Driver: Select weekday mornings, 6:00 AM – 8:00 AM
  • Event Van Driver: Variable weekends or evenings, based on event schedule

Overview:

We’re looking for reliable and responsible volunteers to drive our organization’s transport van for two key roles:

  1. Animal Transport: Drive animals to and from our partnered low-cost veterinary clinic.
  2. Event Support: Deliver and pick up supplies, tables, and booth materials for community events.

Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate the organization’s transport van
  • Load and unload animals in secure crates for clinic transport (no handling required unless trained)
  • Ensure animals are calm, secure, and transported in a timely manner
  • Pick up and deliver event supplies to/from venues as directed
  • Maintain clean and organized van interior
  • Communicate with staff regarding schedules, needs, and vehicle maintenance issues

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years old with a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Able to lift 40–60 lbs (for supplies or crate handling)
  • Comfortable driving a van, including backing into tight spaces
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions
  • For Clinic Driver: Must be available select weekday mornings from 6:00 AM – 8:00 AM
  • For Event Driver: Must have flexible availability for evenings/weekends based on event calendar

Training Provided:

  • Orientation to van use and loading procedures
  • Basic animal transport safety
  • Event logistics overview (for event drivers)

Impact:
This volunteer role plays a vital part in the health, welfare, and adoptability of the animals in our care. By transporting animals to their veterinary appointments, especially for spay and neuter surgeries, the Clinic Transport Driver helps ensure that animals receive essential medical care on time—keeping them healthy and moving them one step closer to being adoption-ready. Access to low-cost veterinary services is crucial for our organization, and this role makes that access possible.

For the Event Van Driver, the support is just as critical. By delivering all necessary materials, signage, merchandise, and supplies in one organized trip, this role ensures our event teams are fully equipped and set up for success. Whether it’s an adoption event, fundraiser, or community outreach opportunity, having one dedicated vehicle and driver streamlines logistics and reduces the burden on staff and volunteers. These events increase our visibility, help connect animals with potential adopters and raise much-needed funds and awareness to support our mission.
