St. Paul's Hospital - Book Cart Volunteer
Who Can Volunteer:
Must be 16 years or older.
About The Role:
A Book Cart volunteer provides friendly, personalized library services to acute care patients. Books, magazines, etc., are transported from the library to various hospital units via a book cart.
The Book Cart offers access to reading materials to patients who cannot leave their rooms.
It is an opportunity for volunteers to have patient contact and help bring a little comfort to their day.
This role will involve walking throughout the hospital and some behind the scenes tasks. Volunteers will not enter contact precaution rooms.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk longer distances throughout the hospital
- Ability to push a cart
- Ability to navigate hospital hallways and patient care areas
Weekly Commitment: We ask volunteers to commit to a minimum of one shift per week.
Position Commitment: We ask volunteers to commit to volunteering for a minimum of 6 months or 40 hours
