St. Paul's Hospital - Gift Shop Volunteer

About the Role:
St. Paul's Hospital Gift Shop is looking for outgoing, reliable, friendly volunteers with excellent communication and customer service skills.
Gift Shop Volunteers contribute to a facility’s healing culture and provide a service to patients, staff and the public in order to raise funds to purchase equipment.
Qualifications:
- Provide excellent customer service to visitors and staff.
- Knowledge of Canadian currency
- Possesses excellent communication skills.
- Receptive and accepting of diverse population.
- Sensitive to the needs of all.
- Sensitive to cultural and financial differences and age ranges of visitors.
- Must observe confidentiality of patients.
- Adequate conversational English is required in order that the individual be able to take direction, understand how to complete job tasks, communicate adequately with visitors and co-workers as necessary, understand and follow safety guidelines as well as hospital and department policies.
Volunteers must complete screening requirements as well as orientation and training for any SHA Volunteer role.
Weekly Commitment: We ask volunteers to commit to a minimum of one shift per week. Shifts are typically 3 hours in length with some flexibility depending on the volunteers' availability.
Position Commitment: We ask volunteers to commit to volunteering for a minimum of 6 months or 40 volunteer hours in a year.
Basic lottery course is required preferably prior to starting in the Gift Shop or at minimum within 1 month commencement. This is a SLGA mandatory requirement.
Direct Supervision by Manager of Gift Shop however, volunteer must obtain competency to work independently & alone for short periods of time.
