Fringe Festival Community Care Team


COMMUNITY CARE TEAM

Our Community Care Team makes Fringe a welcoming and inclusive place for everyone! Community Care is Fringe Theatre’s service-based program of Volunteers and Staff using harm reduction approaches to community crisis response and community empowerment. This team supports unhoused and vulnerable Community Members who may access various community supports around the Fringe Festival grounds, and who are often displaced from their regular use of public spaces by Festival activity. This is a situation that has arisen not by design but as a matter of circumstance. 

 

 

Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Distribute snacks, water, and harm reduction supplies at the Community Care Team tent to vulnerable and/or unhoused Community Members 
  • Be a friendly presence at the Community Care Team tent  
  • Inform Patrons and vulnerable and/or unhoused Community Members of the role of the Community Care Team 
  • Use a radio to inform Community Care Staff of urgent Community Member needs 

 

 

Skills & Qualifications 

  • Must be 18+ years of age 
  • Able to sit outdoors, under a tent, for the duration of a shift 
  • Understand, or desire to learn, harm reduction approaches 
  • Experience, or desire to learn, de-escalating approaches to community crises 
  • Experience or willing to learn how to administer naloxone 
  • Comfortable with some heavy lifting 
  • Proficient understanding and ability to communicate in spoken English 

 

 

Shift Length & Hours 

  • Shifts are approximately 4 hours in length 
  • Shifts occur between the hours of 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM
