Volunteer Opportunities

Animal Advocate

Choose one animal to advocate for until they are adopted. With the assistance of staff create silly, catchy, or unique ways of promoting the animal you selected.

Grooming

Bathes and completes light grooming on animal available for adoption, includes trimming, nails, cleaning ears, brushing and administering flea treatments if necessary.

Photographer

Takes pictures of the animal currently up for adoption. The photographer will try to take pictures showing the animal in the best light possible, This may include placing outfits or setting up scenes for the animals to pose in. These pictures are for the sole purpose of posting on the website, social media, or help network with other rescues for placement, The pictures will be the property of the Town of Flower Mound.

Canine Care

The daily care of adoptable dogs, which involves exercising them, rotating their outdoor time, cleaning their habitats, providing fresh water, and cleaning their bedding and dishes, necessitates the use of a dishwasher, clothes washer, and dryer.

Feline Care

The daily care of adoptable cats, which involves exercising them, rotating their time out of the living quarters for stretching and walking, cleaning their habitats, providing fresh food and water, cleaning litter boxes, and changing bedding and dishes, necessitates the use of a dishwasher, clothes washer, and dryer.

Customer Service

Assisting the public by showing them animals, answering general questions, and assisting with adoptions. This requires some light cleaning of animal habitats, and cleaning of main adoption center Bibby and education center. Volunteers may assist the public by providing education on different breeds, grooming needs, and basic information about animal care and help guide them through the adoption process.

Adoption Center Attendant

Assists with the care of both dogs and cats, which involves rotating animals out of kennels/cages for playtime and exercise, socializing animals, cleaning habitats, restocking living quarters, and scooping waste from play yards.

Fundraising/Assist with an Event

Represent the Flower Mound animal Services at various events throughout the year, This often involves staying by a booth to answer questions about Animal Services and the Flower mound Adoption Center. Helps to chaperone animals at off-site events to jeep them and the public safe while providing education about the organization.

Clerical / DIY Expert

Assisting office staff in entering pet registrations into our excel programs and help when needed to mail out registration tags.  

Assist with construction of props and location staging for photographs, assembling bedroom furniture for the dogs and cats, and event preparation and planning.

Flower Mound Animal Services Goals

Flower Mound Animal Services and Adoption Center strive to improve the quality of life of all animals. Our main goal is to keep the community safe while living with and around animals. We provide animal adoption programs, cruelty/nuisance investigations and routine patrols. These programs are accomplished through enforcement of Town and State regulations, public education programs and an active coalition with local human societies for the health and safety of citizens in Flower Mound.
