Create a safe, welcoming space for older adults where dignity, support, and belonging are at the heart of every interaction. We’re deeply thankful for the partnership of BC Housing and the City of Chilliwack as we respond to the urgent and growing need among older adults in our community. Grove Dinner Companion
Purpose: Offer companionship and support during dinner hours for seniors.
What You Will Do: Sit with guests, share conversation, assist with light tasks.
Time Commitment: Evening shift, 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm.
Skills Needed: Patience, kindness, clear communication.
Requirements: Orientation for The Grove, criminal record check.
Volunteer Appointment/Event Driver
Purpose: Help seniors attend appointments and community events.
What You Will Do: Provide safe rides, assist with drop-off and pickup.
Time Commitment: As needed, scheduled in advance.
Skills Needed: Reliability, respect, safe driving.
Requirements: Orientation, criminal record check, valid license, clean driver’s abstract.
Indigenous Workshop Leader
Purpose: Offer hands-on cultural activities that build community and connection.
What You Will Do: Plan and lead art, carving, beadwork, drum making or similar.
Time Commitment: Scheduled workshops.
Skills Needed: Craft skills, facilitation, patience.
Requirements: Orientation, criminal record check.
Life Skills Instructor
Purpose: Equip seniors with practical skills for daily living and independence.
What You Will Do: Teach budgeting, cooking, or other life skills in a supportive environment.
Time Commitment: Scheduled sessions.
Skills Needed: Teaching ability, clear communication, patience.
Requirements: Orientation, criminal record check; relevant experience is an asset.
Recreation Leader
Purpose: Create enjoyable evening programming for seniors.
What You Will Do: Lead games, karaoke, cards, and light activities.
Time Commitment: Weekly or monthly.
Skills Needed: Friendly facilitation, creativity, reliability.
Requirements: Orientation for The Grove, criminal record check.
Workshop Leader
Purpose: Build skills and confidence through simple workshops suited to seniors.
What You Will Do: Plan and lead low-barrier activities such as crafts or hobbies.
Time Commitment: Scheduled sessions.
Skills Needed: Teaching ability, patience, accessibility focus.
