Activity Instructor

Purpose: Lead or support engaging activities that build confidence, skills, and community for participants in shelters, recovery, and supportive housing.

What You Will Do: Plan and facilitate activity sessions such as art, music, crafts, fitness, woodworking, gardening, bike repair, or other skills you’re comfortable teaching. Encourage participation, offer positive coaching, and adapt activities based on interests and abilities. Prepare materials, set up the space, and ensure a welcoming, respectful environment. Coordinate with staff to align activities with program goals and safety guidelines.

Time Commitment: Typically 60–120 minutes per session. Weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly options based on availability.

Ideal Skills: Experience leading groups, patience, clear communication, and the ability to foster belonging. Comfort adapting activities to different skill levels.

Requirements: Orientation, Criminal Record Check, adherence to RAN values and safety practices. Closed-toe shoes for hands-on sessions; additional PPE if required.

Reporting To: Program staff for the site hosting the activity.

Location: Activities may occur at The Grove, Family Centre, Yale Road site, or other program spaces.
