Volunteering - Kennel Aide

Duties

The role of the Kennel Aide volunteer is to assist kennel staff by providing help with dish cleaning, sweeping, vacuuming, cutting cheese, washing windows and other kennel tasks. This position helps to get the kennel ready for opening in the morning and closing in the evening.

General Responsibilities

  • Wash and sort food and water dishes, buckets and hard toys.
  • Sweep kennels.
  • Vacuum rugs.
  • Wash and clean windows.
  • Cut cheese cubes for treats.

Shift Times
10 a.m. - 12 p.m., 12 p.m. - 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. -- 7 days a week

Qualifications

Greenhill Humane Society has the following requirements for participation in this position.

Physical Capabilities

  • Ability to stand, walk, and maneuver well in tight spaces for significant periods of time while working in the kennel laundry room.
  • Ability to work around strong odors and cleaning chemicals.
  • Ability to bend, squat, reach and lift in order access and put away supplies.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally with kennel staff and other volunteers.


Cognitive Capabilities

  • Ability to understand, remember, and follow instructions and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, or in a parent/youth or support team, while knowing when to ask for help if needed.
