Volunteering - Central Laundry Team

Duties

The Central Laundry Team helps with laundry for various Greenhill departments including Small Animal, Kennel, Cattery and Surgical Suite. This position is responsible for starting new laundry loads, drying and folding clean laundry and distributing to each department for storage.

Shift Times

9 a.m. - 11 a.m., 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. and 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. -- 7 days a week

Qualifications

Greenhill Humane Society has the following requirements for participation in this position.

Physical Capabilities

  • Ability to stand, walk, and maneuver well in tight spaces for significant periods of time.
  • Ability to work around strong odors and cleaning chemicals.
  • Ability to bend, squat, reach and lift in order access and put away supplies.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally with staff and other volunteers.

Cognitive Capabilities

  • Ability to understand, remember, and follow instructions and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, or in a parent/youth or support team, while knowing when to ask for help if needed.
  • Ability to adhere to safety standards by wearing personal protective equipment.

Minimum requirements: The ability to work around strong odors and cleaning chemicals; a willingness to clean and a desire to improve the lives of the shelter animals. Must adhere to safety standards by wearing protective equipment as needed.
