Volunteering - Specialized Species "Tuck'em In"

Duties

The Specialized Species Department Tuck In shift is a volunteer position that takes place between 4:30-5:30pm. This volunteer does a final walkthrough of each SSD room and checks to make sure each animal has everything they need to comfortably spend the night while volunteers and staff are away. Training will be done with shelter staff or an established shift volunteer upon a volunteer’s first shift.

Specialized Species Department Tuck In Shift Description

Volunteers in this position are aiding staff in closing tasks. These volunteer’s tasks will be, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Evening feeding – As instructed
  • Filling each animals water as needed
  • Giving each animal additional hay as needed
  • Sweeping all SSD rooms
  • Re-stocking supplies for the next day in each room
  • Giving each animal a goodnight treat before heading out – As instructed

Requirements

  • Able to meet the physical needs such as kneeling/crouching, bending, and lifting on a regular basis.
  • Must be comfortable with the idea of interacting with all small animals.
  • Must be able to dedicate one shift a week.
