Modbury Hospital is looking for enthusiastic, compassionate volunteers to join our Outpatients Department, helping patients and visitors feel welcomed, informed and supported from the moment they arrive.
As an Outpatients Volunteer, you'll work alongside our healthcare team to provide guidance, reassurance and practical assistance, helping people navigate what can often be a busy and unfamiliar hospital environment.

As an Outpatients Volunteer, you will:
- Welcome patients and visitors as they arrive in the Outpatients Department.
- Assist patients by answering general enquiries and helping them find the right clinic or service.
- Provide directions throughout the Outpatients Department.
- Support hospital staff by completing tasks as requested.
- Help create a positive, organised and welcoming environment for everyone visiting the department.
Your kindness, patience and friendly approach can help make someone's hospital visit much less stressful.
We're looking for people who are:
- Friendly, approachable and compassionate.
- Comfortable standing and walking throughout the hospital during their shift.
- Reliable and able to commit to a regular volunteer shift.
- Proactive and able to use initiative.
- Able to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Excellent communicators with strong active listening skills.
- Respectful of privacy and committed to maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Comfortable interacting with people from diverse cultures, backgrounds and abilities.
- Able to remain calm and positive in a busy environment.
Monday to Friday
Choose from one of two shifts:
- 8:15 am – 12:15 pm
- 12:15 pm – 4:15 pm
