Modbury - Cancer Centre Volunteer
We are currently seeking dedicated volunteers to support patients and staff within the Cancer Centre at Modbury Hospital. This is a rewarding opportunity to provide comfort, companionship, and practical support to individuals receiving chemotherapy and radiation treatment.
In this role, you will help create a welcoming and supportive environment by engaging with patients, offering a friendly presence, and assisting with non-clinical tasks around the ward.
Duties

Assist the families and new patients of chemotherapy/radiation through the process on their first visit to the unit

Sit with families and patients and inform them of the available facilities in the hospital and in the unit, where the amenities are in the unit and identifying where patients’ information brochures are kept.

Assist with Tea, coffee and Sandwiches in the chemo unit and in the waiting area, giving patients warm blankets if needed and refilling the blanket warmer.

Checking that patients have their next appointments booked before leaving.

Wipe down everything (chair etc) after patient has finished treatment
Other Duties

Back of house assistance for with miscellaneous tasks such as restocking masks, gloves (PPE) organising trolleys and non-patient contact duties

Make up oral treatment chemo packs when requested by nursing staff
