Modbury Hospital - Palliative Care
Volunteers work in partnership with paid staff of the ward or community, under the supervision of Team Leader/Ad NUM/Office Manager and Art Therapist to enhance the quality of Palliative Care experience in a “non - clinical holistic way” for patients as well as the relatives and friends of the patients.
Duties
- Conversing with a person who has a need to talk/or sitting in silence as required.
- Offering patients, families, and friends’ refreshments, ensuring you have checked the patient’s dietary requirements with nursing staff.
- Orientate relatives and friends to the ward and cafeteria.
- Assist in meal set up only (trays, lids, table clearing) once ISS has delivered meals to the patient.
- Make toast when appropriate.
- Ensure patients & family area is clean and tidy.
These are only some of the duties you will perform.
- Prior experience working in a similar environment is preferable but not essential.
Shifts:
- Monday to Sunday
- Morning 7.30am to 11.30am
- Afternoon 11.30am to 3.30pm
- Late afternoon - 3.30pm to 7.30pm
