Modbury hospital - Activities & Companion Volunteer
Do you enjoy arts and craft, puzzles, games and having a chat? We are seeking volunteers who would be excited by the opportunity to assist with a new program. This is an initiative to help enhance the lives of long-term patients within the Modbury Hospital. Working closely with the ward staff, you would be supporting patients in regular activities that are designed to improve the quality of life for people who are experiencing long stays in Hospital.
Who we are looking for –
Someone who easily engages in conversation with a range of people from all walks of life.
Someone with a flare for creativity and enjoys a game of cards or other board games.
Wanting to give time to your community and brighten the lives of people who may be at their most vulnerable.
This role would be ideal for a retirees, or for someone who enjoys engaging with people.
Hours of shifts -11am to 3pm time on shift will vary depending on needs.
A commitment of 1 minimum shift per week on a fixed roster, for 6 - 12 months .
PLEASE NOTE :-
BARE BELOW THE ELBOWS All staff (both clinical and non-clinical), students, volunteers and contractors having contact with the patient and/or the patient’s environment must be bare below the elbows, including the following:
• Hand and wrist jewellery (including wrist watches and fitness bands) are not to be worn in the clinical area, with the exception of a medical alert bracelet and/or a single, plain, non-porous ring.
• Long sleeved clothing is not recommended, but if worn needs to be rolled up above the elbow so as not to interfere with hand hygiene practice.
• Nails are to be short, clean and unvarnished.
• Artificial nails are not to be worn
