Welcome to Danum Gallery, Library and Museum!
Opened in 2021, the building combines the old Doncaster Central Library and Museum & Gallery.
We offer a range of free services for people of all ages and walks of life! We welcome volunteers in all areas of our buildings, including our Archives and Local Study Collection over the road. Volunteering is a huge part of our visitor experience, and we aim for volunteering to be mutually beneficial for you and us.
Whether you are looking for a short term volunteering role, a long-term weekly role, micro-volunteering experiences or remote volunteering, we have something for you. Boost your skills, decrease your social isolation and gain experience in a new setting!

Family Activities Volunteer
Family Activities Volunteer
Do you enjoy crafts? Do you like working with children?
We are looking for a volunteer to help with our children's crafts and family activities.
These run every school holiday, and are usually 2 days a week.
This is ideal for anyone who wants to gain more experience working with children, or who enjoys teaching crafts.
Schools Workshop Volunteer
Schools Workshop Volunteer
Do you enjoy working with children? Are you wanting to engage children in history?
We are looking for a volunteer to help with our schools workshops. These run termly, on an ad-hoc basis throughout the week.
If you are wanting more experience working with children, are a lover of history or want to use your existing skills in a new location, this role is for you!
Previous experience working with children is desirable, but not essential.
Children's Library Volunteer

Are you a keen reader? Do you enjoy working with children?
We are looking for a volunteer to help in the children's library, assisting with the running of the library and the organising of activities for visiting children.
Ideally, you would be available on a Wednesday, which is our most busy time in the library, although other times may be available for the right volunteer.
No experience is required!
KOYLI Digitisation
KOYLI Digitisation Volunteer
Are you interested in military history? Do you want to see how museums work with objects behind the scenes?
We are looking for a volunteer to help us digitise our KOYLI collections.
This is an on-site role, working in the City of Doncaster Archives on Chequer Road.
If you have basic computer skills and an interest in the history of the King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry, then this role is for you!
Digitisation Volunteer

Do you have an interest in local history and archaeology? Are you able to take photographs or scan items?
We are looking for digitising volunteers, to be based at Danum Gallery, Library and Museum.
You will be scanning and photographing our museum collections, to help us create important digital versions.
No experience is required, training is provided.

'Art for Everyone' Volunteer
'Art for Everyone' Volunteer
Are you an artist? Do you enjoy teaching people new skills?
We are looking for volunteers for to run a hands-on experience for visitors in our art gallery.
Volunteers will set up and run a drop-in art session for visitors to enjoy. This will be supported by a member of staff.
All resources will be provided. Art skills are required, experience teaching people is desired but not essential!
Object Handling Volunteer

Do you want to get up close to our museum collections? Do you enjoy talking to new people?
We are looking for object handling volunteers! The volunteers will be based in the museum and rail spaces in DGLAM.
You will run object handling experiences for visitors, allowing the public to hold and interact with items from our collection.
No experience is necessary as full training will be provided.
This role is suitable for anyone who wants a visitor-facing role, and preferably someone enthusiastic about history!

Culture Services aims to engage the local community and visitors to the area in Heritage and Library services.
