NOTE: Application deadline for 2016 has passed. Applicants will be kept on file and contacted in late fall about the 2017 training course.
Applicants must be 18 years of age or older, and must be residents of Edmonton.
- Complete a free, 40-hour training course
- Learn all about recycling, composting, grasscycling, and reducing waste
- Enjoy a free tour of the Edmonton Waste Management Centre
- Meet other green-minded Edmontonians
- Volunteer at least 35 hours
- Show friends and neighbours how to reduce waste
What Kind of Volunteering?
MCRs are community leaders in waste reduction.
They use savvy ways to sway friends, family, neighbours and coworkers to reduce waste.
- Show a neighbour how to grasscycle.
- Teach newcomers what to recycle.
- Host a wasteless dinner party.
- Be a compost mentor at a community garden.
What about this Training?
The MCR Course covers all aspects of waste in Edmonton, but especially how to reduce waste.

It is 10 classes of 40 hours, in total.
Classes run Wednesday evenings and Saturdays, from March to May.
