Located in the historic Prince of Wales Armouries Heritage Centre, the City of Edmonton Archives is a public research facility housing civic government and private records of enduring significance that document Edmonton's history.

This volunteer opportunity is geared towards students and emerging professionals interested in learning about archives. These short 3-month positions were developed to allow young people an opportunity to gain experience working in an archive.
Duties will include tasks associated with preservation, collections management, and access.

This position is geared towards an individual who wants to make a longer-term commitment to volunteering in the Archives. The project this position takes on will be larger and require more hours to complete. Duties will include tasks associated with preservation, collections management, and access.
Eligibility
Ages 18+
University student or recent graduate (Student or Emerging Professional Archives Assistant)
The ability to read cursive is an asset
Experience in Google Suite is an asset
Excellent written communication skills required

Contact the City of Edmonton Archives with a letter of intent, explaining why you want to volunteer at the Archives and what you hope to gain from the experience.
Once you’ve spoken to the Archives and they’ve indicated there is a volunteer position available, you can fill in an application.
This position will require a professional or academic letter of reference.
