Applicants must be at least 18 years of age to apply for the Respiratory Unit Associate Volunteer Program. If interested applicant (ages 16, 17) shows  independence, maturity and responsibility, their application may be considered for the role.

• Adequate conversational English is required in order that the individual be able to take direction, understand how to complete job tasks, communicate adequately with visitors and co-workers as necessary, understand and follow safety guidelines as well as hospital and department policies.

The Respiratory Associate volunteer will be interacting with patients, while walking with the individuals as they complete their breathing tests. The volunteer may be required to push wheelchairs, or roll oxygen carts. The volunteer will encourage patients' participation while engaging in conversation and providing emotional support to the patient as they walk together.

There are approximately 1-5 breathing clinics per year. The shifts are 8:00am- 2:00pm and the volunteer would be called in as needed.
