Volunteering at Caring for Friends!

Welcome!

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Caring for Friends, a food access non-profit organization dedicated to providing food and friendship to the Philadelphia region since 1974!

Through a dedicated network of volunteers, Caring for Friends provides meals to homebound seniors, retail-rescued and donated food to food pantry partners, and snack bags and sandwiches to people experiencing homelessness. Thank you for wanting to join the team!

This portal is intended to assist volunteers in signing up for opportunities on-site at our NE Philadelphia location.

If you are interested in volunteer opportunities that can be done off-site, such as a donation drive, or if you have any questions, please email our Volunteer Coordinator at volunteer@caringforfriends.org.

Volunteer Interests

Kitchen Volunteer

Kitchen Volunteers help in our kitchen to prepare food for our senior meals! Volunteers may be asked to cut, sort, or pack food and sandwiches. Aprons, gloves, and hairnets are provided for volunteers use in the kitchen. We ask that all kitchen volunteers dress comfortably in long pants and wear closed toe shoes!

Warehouse Sort & Pack Volunteer

Sort & Pack volunteers help out in our warehouse. They help package our dry goods and frozen meal boxes that are distributed to homebound seniors and throughout the Philadelphia community. Please note the warehouse can be warm during the summer and cold during the winter so dress comfortably! Sort & Pack volunteers will need to wear closed toe shoes and please bring work gloves if you have them.

Office Volunteer

Office volunteers help in our reception area greeting visitors, organize supplies, answer phones, sort, copy, prepare food packages, compile or edit spreadsheets, and do other important tasks.

Our Mission

Caring for Friends aims to provide food and friendship to seniors, kids and adults in the 5-county Philadelphia region.

Through meals cooked, frozen, and delivered to homebound seniors, food products provided to food pantry partners through our food bank, and sandwiches and snack bags shared with people experiencing homelessness, we strive to fight food insecurity faced by our neighbors.
