Pleasant Ridge - Summer Reading Special Events
Do you enjoy working with children? Have an interest in encouraging reading and facilitating engagement during special library events? The Pleasant Ridge Branch of the Cincinnati & Hamilton County Public Library is seeking Teen volunteers to serve as Summer Reading Special Events Assistants during our Summer Program. Summer Reading Special Events support is essential in our branches so that librarians have the assistance they need to offer fun and interactive programming all Summer long!
Responsibilities: Typical responsibilities will include working Tuesday morning storytimes and select Saturday events in June and July, helping children sign up for the Summer Reading program by handing out activity trackers, prize books and other incentives as well as helping children spin our Wonder Wheel. Assistance with program setup and breakdown may be required.
Necessary skills and qualifications: Interest in working with children, excellent customer service, attention to detail, enthusiasm for connecting with others, dependability.
Requirements: Minimum age 12 years old; ability to lift up to 15 pounds and carry a min of 2 feet; Ability to reach, bend, and stoop to reach shelves; Completed application; Interview; Background check (if 18 or older).
Time Required: 2-4 hours/week
Commitment Length Required: short-term (min. 1-3 months)
Schedule: Tuesday mornings 10a - 12p and other flexibility as needed for special events throughout the summer
