Corryville Branch - Summer Feeding Program Assistant
Do you like working with children? Are you passionate about childhood hunger? Are you reliable and dependable? The Corryville Branch of the Cincinnati and Hamilton County Public Library seeks volunteers to serve as Summer Feeding Program Assistants. Summer Feeding Program Assistants are essential in our branches to provide needed meals to kids who may otherwise go without food during the summer months when school is out of session.
Responsibilities: Serve food to children up to age 18; supervise meal service to maintain order and meet reporting requirements; complete daily log of food received and served; assist with simple crafts or other library activities for participating children; promotion of library activities; assist with set up and take down of food service; clean-up of food pans, seating area, etc.
Necessary skills and qualifications: Good communication skills; ability to work with diverse customer base; enjoys working with children; flexibility in constantly shifting environment; familiarity with child-centered programs a plus
Requirements: Minimum age 16 years old; Ability to lift and carry materials; Ability to stand, walk, stoop, and bend; Ability to read, write, talk, see, sit, problem solve, and reason; Completed application; Interview; Background check
Time Required: 1.5 hours/week
Commitment length required: short term (minimum 3 months from May 20-August 20)
Schedule: Monday-Friday 12:00-1:30pm
