St. Bernard Branch - Program Support Assistant

Do you enjoy working with children? Have an interest in arts and crafts? The St. Bernard Branch of the Cincinnati & Hamilton County Public Library seeks volunteers to serve as Program Support Assistants. Program Support Assistants are essential in our branches to provide assistance to librarians as they prepare for and offer programming for our young customers. Typical work includes craft preparation, cutting out shapes and projects for story time, and working with children during activities.

 

Responsibilities: Assist Youth Librarian with craft preparation and during program presentation; cut shapes and projects for story hour; cover books; clean books; make copies; occasional assistance with adult programs as needed; assist with room set-up and clean-up after programs.

 

Necessary skills and qualifications: Interest in working with children; arts and crafts oriented; attention to detail; neatness; knowledge of basic library operations.

 

Requirements: Minimum age 13 years old; Ability to lift and carry materials; Ability to reach, bend, and stoop to reach shelves; Completed application; Interview; Background check (if 18 or older).

 

Time Required: 1-2 hours/week

Commitment Length Required: short-term (min. 1-3 months)

Schedule: Thursday-Friday – 4:00 – 5:00 p.m.
