Are you an outgoing teenager? Do you enjoy helping others celebrate milestones? Are you dependable? The Madeira Branch of the Cincinnati & Hamilton County Public Library seeks volunteers to serve as Teen Summer Program Assistants.  Typical work includes assisting staff with Discover Summer programming and helping with Reading Buddies by pairing with 1-3 children to read together. Teen Summer Program Assistants are essential in our branches to ensure that our Discover Summer program is successful!

Responsibilities: Assist with activities of Discover Summer program, including assist the Children’s Librarian or Teen Librarian with passive activity stations and other events, as needed; participate in regularly scheduled Reading Buddies programs; read together with children and help them with literacy activities planned by the Children’s Librarian; assist customers with basic questions about activities; assist staff with other basic tasks pertaining to Discover Summer, as needed.

Necessary skills and qualifications: Excellent customer service; attention to detail; enthusiasm for reading; ability to connect with others; dependability

Requirements: Minimum age 12 years old; Ability to lift and carry materials; Ability to reach, bend, and stoop; Completed application; Interview; Completed reference check.
