North Central Branch - Summer Reading Program Assistant

Are you an outgoing teenager? Do you enjoy helping others celebrate milestones? Are you dependable? The North Central Branch of the Cincinnati & Hamilton County Public Library seeks volunteers to serve as Summer Reading Program Assistants. Summer Reading Program Assistants are essential in our branches to ensure that our highly popular Summer Reading Program is successful! Typical work includes staffing the Summer Reading Program booth and distribution of program prizes.

 

Responsibilities: Award customers with prizes based on achievement within program; assist customers with basic questions and refer to librarians for more difficult questions; assist librarians with basic tasks outside of program during off-peak hours.

 

Necessary skills and qualifications: Excellent customer service; attention to detail; enthusiasm for reading; ability to connect with others; dependability.

 

Requirements: Minimum age 13 years old; Maximum age 18 years old; Ability to lift and carry materials; Ability to reach, bend, and stoop; Completed application; Interview.

 

Time Required: 2-4 hours/week

Commitment Length Required: short-term (min. 1-3 months)

Schedule: Monday-Thursday – 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and Saturday – 10:00 a.m.– 5:00 p.m.
