This volunteer is a man who is walking with Christ and is active in his Bible-believing church. He will lead classes that are either prescribed, i.e., Proverbs class, or a class that is of your choice. If you use your own class materials, the class must be reviewed by the Phase 1 Director first. A personal interview is required. A 6-month commitment is desired.
This is a one-on-one opportunity working directly with our residents. This man must be an active member in a Bible-believing church and in good standing with that church. This is a different application from the primary application and will also require a personal interview. You will meet twice once a month with the resident and provide a status report for those meetings. A 6-month commitment is expected.
WHAT WILL YOU DO: Provide or cook a meal for the residents of the men's home or both the men's home and women's home residents. Feel free to fellowship with the men and women residents and ask them about their walks with the Lord. They are willing to share their stories about how they got to DFH.
WHEN AND HOW OFTEN: The times for these are either Saturday or Sunday dinner time and are scheduled ahead of time with the kitchen manager. This can happen once or twice a month or quarter.
WHO MAY VOLUNTEER: Perfect for Bible Studies, church ministry or home group. If you are a family with children 5 and over, or a single man.
WHAT DO I WEAR: Please wear comfortable clothing and closed toed shoes. Jeans and a t-shirt are an excellent selection. Please be mindful of the graphics on the shirts, we ask that t-shirts not advertise secular bands or anything with alcohol/drugs related.
Please wear gloves (we will provide them!) whenever handling food.
Anyone with long hair is asked to put their hair up. Hats are welcomed in the kitchen.

This role is vital to teaching the women biblical truths. You will be in a classroom setting with 1-10 women, depending on the time of day you are teaching. We ask that you discuss your class materials with the Phase 1 Director prior to your scheduled class time.
There are opportunities to teach the Bible, life skills, and worship as well as mentor a resident. Please specify which category when you have your personal interview.
Our schedule is precise, so please be prepared to teach at the start of your shift and end as scheduled.
What is a WOW: She is a shepherd, a mentor and teacher who displays what it is like to follow Jesus in her actions and words as a disciple of Jesus Christ.
She is mature in her faith and in good standing with a Bible-believing church.
Point women back to the cross for healing, forgiveness and reconciliation.

This activity is perfect for any Women in a home group together or who do a Bible study together. Gather with the women and either teach them to cook your favorite dish, bring food to share and a word from the Lord or if you are talented with instruments, bring a night of worship to the women's home! All men coming, must be accompanied by their wives.

Work alongside our residents at our client-choice, pantry at it's new location in north Denton on University Dr. between Fulton and Malone Street. Volunteering at our pantry is on an as needed basis. Please note that we will ask that you call the pantry the morning of, around 8 or 9AM to see if they need assistance that day. Our residents work at the pantry and so it is pretty well staffed, however, sometimes the numbers vary and so we will need your assistance! This is appropriate for anyone needing school hours, and parents who homeschool older children. This is not a group volunteer location.
Willing to help setup, coordinate and clean up Denton Freedom House events. Duties will vary depending on the event. This may require long periods of standing and/or sitting. If interested, you will be contacted concerning the event and times will be given then.
Experience making coffee drinks using standard coffee shop equipment as expected. This is considered an experienced position; therefore, it may be better suited for those who have coffee shop or hospitality experience.
This position will include keeping up with the cleanliness of the shop, Running the register, Making Frozen drink/Drip coffees/Cold brews/Teas, and also being a short order cook on our sandwich station. If you have a food handler certificate that would be great but not required
