McKinley Park Playground

Saturday September 19 & Sunday September 20

9:00am - 2:00pm

Join Friends of East Sacramento and the City Sacramento's Department of Youth, Parks & Community Enrichment (YPCE) for a weekend of community service as we refresh the playground at McKinley Park.  

This is a great opportunity to roll up your sleeves, meet your neighbors and help give this well-loved playground a little TLC.

Come for both days or join us for an hour or two on either day.  The schedule is flexible, so come when you can and help as much as you'd like.

Saturday morning

• weed and tidy the playground
• spread woodchips throughout the playground
• clean and add sand to the sand play area
• tighten and make minor adjustments to the play equipment

Saturday afternoon

• Power wash and prep play equipment for painting
• clean up surrounding vegetation

 Sunday

• Paint selected sections of the play structure
• Paint the playground entrance pillars

No special experience is necessary - YPCE staff and experienced volunteers will provide guidance and help you get started.

YPCE will provide Tools.

Resources from Friends of East Sacramento and Gifts to Share will buy paint, parts and equipment.

Volunteers will supply energy and elbow grease.
