PACU Volunteer – South Health Campus

Support patients and families as they recover from surgery in the Post Anesthetic Care Unit (PACU). PACU volunteers help create a calm, caring environment and support nursing staff.

Shifts

Daily (Monday–Sunday)
• 2:00–5:00 pm
• 5:00–8:00 pm
• 8:00–11:00 pm

• 11 pm - 2 am

What You’ll Do

• Support patients recovering from anesthesia
• Escort family members into PACU as requested
• Provide comfort through conversation or quiet presence
• Help maintain a safe, organized environment
• Follow direction from PACU nursing staff

Who This Is For

• Friendly and compassionate
• Reliable and punctual
• Comfortable in a busy multi discipline, health care environment with acute care patients
• Able to stand/walk for extended periods
• Basic computer and telephone skills required

Training Provided

• AHS Volunteer Orientation
• Two or more training shifts with an experienced volunteer

PACU volunteers do not provide medical care or advice. All duties are performed under nurse direction.
