Description
OKO is very similar to Bingo. Every resident has a playing card which has images of a variety of different playing cards on it (i.e. Queen of Spades, Two of Hearts, Jack of Clubs, etc.). The activity supervisor then picks a card from the deck of cards and shows it to the residents. Every person who has that card on their playing card gets to put a token on it. Once they have a complete line of tokens on their playing card they win 0.25$. Needless to say, this is a very popular game at Saint Brigid’s Home and our residents are very fond of it.
Volunteer Role
Your role is to wheel and assist residents to the Kildare Lounge to attend the activity and then back to their rooms afterwards. You will then help 1 to 3 residents during the activity. Some residents require more help than others, and will be grateful for your support. OKO aims at maintaining the residents’ autonomy while permitting them to have fun. You are expected to be punctual, reliable, understanding, and patient.
