Duties and Responsibilities

• Identify opportunities to advertise the Walk and Kids Help Phone
• Maximize promotional opportunities with local media and organizations
• Oversee and assist with the execution of local promotional ideas
• Develop opportunities for local media support of event PSA’s
• Arrange a pro bono on-site photographer for Walk day and ensure photos are provided to Kids Help Phone in a timely manner after the event
• Assist in the coordination of a kickoff event (where applicable)
• Update Kids Help Phone staff on promotional schedules and communication opportunities
• Acknowledge all media supporters during and after the event and act as event day media support
• Assist in the recruitment of awareness volunteers for planning and event day
• Maintain a binder or online portal of media coverage and secure Beta copies of any television coverage
• Provide Kids Help Phone with a post-event public relations evaluation

Qualifications

• Experience in communications is an asset
• Excellent interpersonal skills to maintain strong ties with media partners and committee members
• Motivated to support Kids Help Phone’s mission and vision
• Strong ability to collaborate and lead with a team and communicate at a regional and national level
• Strong organization skills to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects

Commitment

• Approximately 10 hours per month, with hours increasing leading up to the walk (April-May)
• Monthly meeting attendance
• Responsibilities outside of meeting time
• Must be able to attend the Walk on the first Sunday in May (approximately 9 hours
