East County Library: Teen Space Program Assistant (youth only, age 14-18)
Volunteers will help support the Teen Space in the following ways: welcome teens to the Teen Room and show them around, assist teens in using the space, helping to keep the space tidy, and being the connection between teens and library staff. This role is for volunteers who are between 14 and 18 years old.
Location: East County Library, 475 NW Division St., Gresham, OR 97030
Time Commitment: 1-3 hours weekly
Available Shifts: After school, weekends and more shifts available during summer
Age Requirement: 14 - 18 years old
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Welcoming teens to the teen space
- Keeping the space tidy and inviting
- Assisting teens in using the space by answering questions, directing them to materials and supplies, explaining how to use the space (Teen volunteers are not responsible for enforcing behavior guidelines)
- Act as a connection between teen users and staff
- Providing access to craft supplies
- Optional duties include: filling out teen picks bookmarks, assisting Teen and Youth Librarians with program prep, other special projects
Skills & Qualifications
- Reliability and ability to commit to a weekly shift
- Age 14 - 18
- Flexible and enjoy working on a variety of projects
- Ability to work independently
