East County Library: Event Assistant for Grand Opening (age 16+)
The grand opening of East County Library will be a vibrant, celebratory, multigenerational and multicultural event!
We are anticipating a large number of attendees and are looking for volunteers who are flexible and willing to help out where needed. Various shifts are available on Saturday, May 16 and Sunday, May 17, 2026. Volunteers will assist with a variety of tasks depending on what is needed most at the time.
Volunteer training will be on Saturday, May 9, 10:00-11:30 am. Volunteers will get a tour of the library and learn about the weekend schedule and different volunteer roles.
Location: East County Library, 475 NW Division Gresham, OR 97030
Age Requirement: 16+ or any age if volunteering with a parent/guardian

- Saturday, May 16, 10:30 am - 1:30 pm
- Saturday, May 16, 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
- Saturday, May 16, 3:30 pm - 6:00 pm
- Sunday, May 17, 11:30 am - 2:30 pm
- Sunday, May, 17, 2:00 pm - 4:30 pm
- Sunday, May 17, 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Help set up and break down the event
- Greet event guests and help them find their way
- Assist with guest seating
- Distribute food and beverages
- Assist performers
- Help manage line queues
Special Skills & Qualifications
- Excited about new libraries
- Enjoy talking with people
- Conversationally fluent in English
- Able to work in a busy and fast paced environment
- Able to stand for the majority of the shift and lift up to 20 pounds
- Able to work independently

Training & Other Requirements
- A volunteer application must be completed before being assigned to a shift
