Midland Library: Lunar New Year Event Assistant on Feb. 21 (age 16+)

Help us celebrate the Lunar New Year with a celebration at Midland Library on Saturday, February 21 from 2:00-4:00 pm. The program will have music, crafts, gifts and more! We are anticipating a large number of attendees and are looking for bilingual (Chinese or Vietnamese) volunteers who are flexible and willing to help out where needed.  Volunteers will help set up and take down event spaces, greet guests and support craft stations. 

 

Location: Midland Library, 805 SE 122nd Ave, Portland, OR 97233

 

Age requirement: 16+

 

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Set up and take down event areas
  • Show hospitality to make guests feel welcome
  • Assist with craft stations
  • Distribute snacks and giveaway bags
  • Provide general support needed throughout the event



 Minimum Qualifications

  • Enjoy talking with people of all ages and backgrounds
  • Conversationally fluent in English
  • Fluent in Vietnamese or Chinese (preferred)
  • Able to work in a busy and fast paced environment
  • Able to stand for the majority of the shift and lift up to 5-10 lbs
  • Able to work independently
