Operations Center: Summer Reading Special Project Assistant (age 16+)
Do you have a little time and lots of love for the library? Join us at the Library Operations Center to help us get ready for Summer Reading. We will prepare program materials, sort and prepare Summer Reading t-shirts and organize training materials for 900+ youth volunteers. The Summer Reading Program is a reading game for children and teens which combines learning and fun. This reading game is based on a goal of reading daily and incorporates other learning activities to enhance engagement. Summer Reading is intended to meet the range of abilities, interests, and literacy skills of ages 0-18 years, and to provide participants with options over the summer that boost literacy skills and promote lifelong learning.

Tasks & Responsibilities
- Package and prepare Summer Reading materials and incentives
- Roll and sort Summer Reading t-shirts
- Prepare volunteer training materials
- Assist with other tasks as needed
Special Skills & Qualifications
- Age 16+
- Willing to do repetitive tasks
- Manual dexterity & the ability to stand, bend and lift
- Organization skills for keeping track of detailed processes
- Ability to work independently once trained
- Ability to make decisions based on instructions and procedures
- Ability to read and write clearly in English
