Central Library: LEGO Program Assistant (youth only, age 14-18)
Do you like LEGO? Yes, we’re talking about the colorful building bricks! Assist staff with the monthly LEGO program. This position includes helping with room set up and clean up, getting the LEGOs out and ready for families, monitoring the fun, taking photos of amazing constructions and coordinating with staff around room capacity. This role is for volunteers who are between 14 and 18 years old.
Location: Central Library, 801 SW 10th Avenue, Portland, OR 97205
Time Commitment: 2-4 hours/month for 3 months or more
Age Requirement: 14 - 18 years old
Available Shifts: Saturdays 10:30 am - 12:30 pm
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Assist with setting up chairs and tables, then taking them down
- Pull out LEGO tubs
- Assist with room monitoring
- Help families get situated and set up with blocks
- Take photos of LEGO creations
- Disassemble LEGO works
- Interact with the public, answer or reroute questions about the event
- Bring in library staff if there are any problems.
Skills & Qualifications
- Reliability and ability to commit to a monthly event
- Welcoming & respectful of people from all cultures/ backgrounds and types of families
- Ability to set up and take down chairs and tables
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs of LEGO tubs
- Experience with kids and LEGO building bricks a plus, but not required
