Belmont Library: Event Assistant for Grand Opening (age 18+)
The grand reopening of Belmont Library will be a vibrant, celebratory, multigenerational and multicultural event!
We are anticipating a large number of attendees and are looking for volunteers who are flexible and willing to help out where needed. Various shifts are available on Saturday, August 15 and Sunday, August 16, 2026. Volunteers will assist with a variety of tasks depending on what is needed most at the time. Most of the volunteer activities will be outside under a tent.
Location: Belmont Library, 1038 SE César E. Chávez Boulevard, Portland, OR 97214
Age Requirement: 16+ or any age if volunteering with a parent/guardian
Available Shifts
- Saturday, August 15, 8:00 am - 11:00 am
- Saturday, August 15, 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
- Saturday, August 15, 3:30 pm - 6:00 pm
- Sunday, August 16, 11:30 am - 2:30 pm
- Sunday, August 16, 2:00 pm - 4:30 pm
- Sunday, August 16, 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Help set up and break down the event
- Greet event guests and help them find their way
- Assist with guest seating
- Distribute food and beverages
- Assist performers
- Help manage line queues
Special Skills & Qualifications
- Excited about new libraries
- Enjoy talking with people
- Conversationally fluent in English
- Able to work in a busy and fast paced environment
- Able to stand for the majority of the shift and lift up to 20 pounds
- Able to work independently
