Title of opportunity for recruitment on website: Los Penasquitos Management Area Trail Masters

Description of tasks for recruitment on website: All things trail work! This is an opportunity for the outdoorsy to give back to the trails they know and love, and some new ones too. Assist Park Rangers with brush trimming, bridge repair, trail tread and alignment re-contouring, erosion management, beautification, and more. The Park Rangers need a reliable crew of dedicated volunteers to help us manage the trail system throughout our Open Space Preserves and parklands on a weekly basis. Trail Masters form the core of what keeps our parks accessible to sustainable recreation.

What program/initiative does this opportunity support? This opportunity supports the Park Ranger Program and the natural resource management plans for Los Penasquitos Management Area.

What is the community benefit or impact of the volunteer opportunity? Nature Deficit is a common malady of the modern lifestyle. Trail Masters support everyone who needs to get outside by maintaining the trails the public uses to be in nature. They serve the land, too, protecting vulnerable habitats by encouraging legal trail use. The Trail Masters are a close-knit group as well, providing a fun, social and physical health experience for the volunteers themselves.
