Position: Program facilitator – Youth/Senior intergenerational Gardening Program

Position Purpose / Goals – To assist staff to create and deliver an Intergenerational Gardening Program at the Youth Centre  Gardens.

Schedule: As needed – 3 times per week

Required Tasks - with assistance from staff/program participants

  • Responsible for organizing Spring garden clean up/set up Fall close down
  • Set up of Vertical Grow garden with education component “How to”
  • Create an engaging garden program for Youth and Older Adults to get garden planted and monitor grow garden once set up
  • Set up schedule with gardening participants to over see care of the garden

Planting, Watering, Weeding, Care

  • Create opportunities to harvest and share garden produce

 

Qualifications

Minimum age: 18 yrs and older Requires VSSC police check

  • Experienced Gardener (Vegetables)
  • Customer Service Oriented Individual
  • Friendly, outgoing
  • Posses good communication skills  
  • Experience engaging  a team of Youth and Older Adult participants  
  • Consistent and reliable
  • Ability to multi task in a busy environment
  • Teaching experience an asset   

Uniform

  • Volunteer t shirt/name tag provided

Training

  • On-site Training and Orientation
