Literacy Services - Wednesday Intermediate Conversation Club for Adults

Help facilitate this fun and informal program where English and Second Language adult learners gather in a safe environment to practice spoken English based on literacy curriculum and materials. Topics include idioms, civics, travel, food, shopping, careers, parenting. Program Goals: 

Provide a comfortable and safe environment to practice speaking and listening in English.
Foster independent learning skills.
Provide an enjoyable social setting.

Volunteer Qualifications

  • Fluent in English
  • Strong facilitation skills
  • Active listening skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively with people from all backgrounds and all skill levels

Volunteer Responsibilities

  • Attend a 2 hour orientation and training session
  • Commit to 3 months minimum
  • Create a supportive, fun and rewarding environment


  • Meet new people and foster friendships with individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Help people improve their English language skills and become more confident speakers
